8.19.18 Trip prep...Let the good times roll!
Few things get me as excited as the week before a big trip. Getting all my gear pack, browsing over dozens of maps, investigating areas I will be passing through, and making sure the important stuff for the motorcycle has been done. (oil changes, tires good to go, everything working the way it should)
The steed packed and ready to go. The things this motorcycle has seen already in just a short year with it. 14,xxx clicks and ready for a few thousand more!!
The count down is at seven days...SEVEN DAYS and then its just me, my motorcycle and a friend who it has been too long since I've ridden with, exploring some great parts of the western U.S. with stops planned in Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho, with a few more TBD. There will be some great riding just getting out of Colorado and as when we return.
As with any trip, there is always review and reflection on the good, the bad, and the ugly to help me prep for the next one, With the motorcycle industry and camping industry changing so often it is easy to find, lighter, stronger, better packing gear to enhance the trip. I feel lucky to be hooked up with a great company Rigg Gear (www.rigggear.com) that has supplied me with the luggage that suits my needs best, so I'm not too worried in that aspect...But now I have several options for luggage to choose for, so there is always a debate and trial of what will work best for what trip. Recently I had a friend lend me a solo tent to try out and help save some weight/space which is so critical on a motorcycle trip. So it was time to pick some bags, grab my stuff and test the new things out!
A tent, a motorcycle, and beautiful landscape? what more could you ask for?
I set out the other night to get a taste of what my new set-up would be like, with everything strapped on tight I headed for my favorite back country spot and set-up shop. The tent worked out perfect for me! light weight, packs great and still offers me more than enough room to stretch out and a place to keep my jacket/helmet with me in the tent. Stay tuned as the next post will start covering my trip!
